3200 WELLS DRILLED IN 50 YEARS

     Big "6" Drilling Company has drilled many wells for major oil companies, but a high percentage of its business is with oil and gas independents and individuals.  In the past 50 years, Big "6" has drilled more than 3,200 wells for over 1,500 different customers.  This wide exposure, Weldon Smith, Chairman says is a major factor in the company's success even when drilling activity slackens. 

     The company has confined its drilling activity to Texas and Louisiana, which gives them valuable expertise in all the wells they drill.

     While the petroleum industry has been sluggish, the management of Big "6" Drilling Company is still confident that the company is financially sound enough to "make it through this dull time and continue into the future."  Since the company purchased its first rig in 1945, its second rig in 1949, the third in 1956, and the fourth in 1970, and its fifth in 1981, the last rig was paid for before the boom ended.  This leaves the company in a strong financial condition and prepared to cope with the current strong increase in demand for its services.

THE COMPANY'S  EMPLOYEES

Big "6" Drilling Company enjoys the dedication and loyalty of a group of 35 employees. Many, serving in different   capacities, have been with the firm more than ten years.
