Big "6" Drilling Company is generally considered as having pioneered the "turnkey" drilling contract along the Texas Gulf Coast. Offering its first "turnkey" contract in 1949, oil & gas operators appreciate the benefit of drilling a well with fixed costs.
Some customers prefer to drill wells on a Day Work Basis. In those cases, it makes more economic sense to be able drill under a Day Work Contract.
It is the goal of Big "6" to drill under the type of contract that best suits both parties.
Big "6" Drilling Company has drilled wells for many oil companies, but the highest percentage of its business is with independent operators. In the past 73 years, Big "6" has drilled more than 3,500 wells in Texas and Louisiana for over 1,500 different customers. This wide exposure is a major factor in the company's success.
